Thank you for taking the time to get to know my work.

Welcome to Yeager and Associated Stuff

What is ...
   Yeager and Associates LLC?

Not much.  This "LLC"  does not aspire to empire, seek its own trappings of institution, develop and license product, or dream of dominion.

It is simply me, Doug, accompanied from time to time by an informal network of associates and vendors that share a passion.

Huh?   isn't this an about us page?
The "about" is not a "what" but a "why",
as in. "why am I doing what I do"?
It comes from a deep place...

so... about why
  Doug's Picture
  • You don't have to grow up in the third world to witness the sea of people that have been simply left out of our economy;
  • You don't have to hold an infant addicted to her mother's drug of choice to know that we have failed to protect the innocent;
  • Or parent this child into adulthood to know that the cost of our failure may never be tallied.
The cynic looks at people that try to address worldly problems and scoffs at ineptitude, greed,  relationships of dependency, sycophants, and elitism... and walks away.
  • But "good things happen": somehow people learn of human needs and are moved to give, somehow the gift finds its way to the need and is not stolen, mis-directed, or otherwise abused, and somehow the community benefits.
    • Somebody/ somehow comes down to hope for the human condition.  It is an article of faith.
    • Corollary: there are people in our world who are part of the kindred that seek to do right.
My wife Beth and I have opened our home to foster children for the past 20 years.  People, even close friends, wonder at how we could do this, a role that can only be described as a forfeit of lifestyle.  But the risk is not in the doing, for I am convinced that every one of these people would not hesitate to take in this child if they knew them (perhaps as a niece) and knew their circumstance.  The risk is in opening our eyes to see.

When I see the state of institutions that serve as intermediaries between resources (including people of means) and needs (local or global), I see calamity
If you have eyes to see, you will nod.
If you don't I invite you walk with me for a while...

The answer does not lie in forming another institution.  Because the calamity is so, well, institutionalized, addressing it is not a matter of finding a silver bullet (e.g. system).  Besides, which need would such an institution start with?

I have been blessed by a rich life experience that in my formative years taught me how to cross cultural boundaries by embracing and affirming differences, and in my adult life has taught me how to turn rage by a gentle word.  The blessings continued through an educational sojourn surrounded by keen minds, and vocational challenges that further stretched my own.  To quote a bit of scripture:From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. (Luke 12:48b)

I know that I can transform organizations devoted to human service, including foundations, in ways that will improve not just their efficiency but their effectiveness.  Through this process I may even bring them to better understand their own unique goals.

When a foster child, broken by life, comes into my home, they find a place that is safe and respects their self; a home that imposes the right amount of structure for them, praises the good, and that knows when to re-direct the bad or simply to ignore it; a place where discipline is about them and not about a parent's anger or pride; and most importantly, a place that they will learn to trust.

Do you have eyes to see?

If we of the kindred souls that seek to do right are going to get anywhere, the institutions that are the vehicle for this doing need to be ship-shape.  But they have baggage, have gone through trauma, and are missing key skills. Their financial house is in disrepair, and they suffer from not seeing the forest for the trees.  These are places where my skills can be put to good use.
