Doug is perhaps the senior independent business technology advisor to foundations. Acknowledged as a leader in the development of systems and practices in foundation management, he brings equal passion to the program and to the efficiency of philanthropy. His role is transformational in seeking to help foundations discern directions, understand their fiscal and operational health, and assess their capacity for change. Yet his role is ultimately practical in looking for the best ways in which a foundation can move forward, charting budgets, staffing implications, milestones and solutions.
Strategic investments in business technology do not take place in a vacuum. Doug combines a strong business background with technical skills in understanding the whole package. A technology solution that is a perfect match to a foundation's dreams and budget will fail without a sensitivity to working with a board; or fail if a veteran and valued department head cannot imagine how to re-define their job; or fail if junior staff do not understand the need to step up.
