DISCLAIMER:  this is not a social networking site.

CLAIMER:   Sharing is good.  Exchanging is Better.  Interacting is Best

Why a disclaimer?   The foundation field is very lucky to have a community of technically inclined people that share resources, get together as peers on an annual basis and share questions and answers.  TAG logo

  • This group is named TAG (the Technology Affinity Group).  It has real people doing real jobs.  Membership is inexpensive and open to all.  (see http://www.tagtech.org/ )

And the claimer? A "Collective" is a place where resources can be collected from a network of people (that have touched Yeager and Associates).  What kinds of things?

  • Shared: A lot of them have been developed by Doug and friends, and here re-packaged here in a shared forum.
  • Exchanged: Some have been contributed by members of the collective.  The section called "Bragging" is a case in point.
  • Interacted: The collective is designed to be transparent. Members will see user review and traffic (which indicates interest).

Creative Commons LicenseBut what about intellectual property?

If we share stuff, aren't we giving away that which makes us valuable?  Doesn't that sort of get in the way of making a living?

For starters, what I get paid for is what I DO with the knowledge of frameworks and methods I choose to share freely.  It is one thing to use these materials to figure out what strategies might work for a given organization, it is another thing to understand the nuances of making change happen.  Innovation is a two edged sword: if it is not handled with care it can bite.

Furthermore, there is more work to be done than all of us together can do.  I choose to build trust and relationships with people of similar stripes, and with them I need openness.  Who am I to judge the circumstances of someone unknown who needs to use the materials?  Karma.
